Jim Leighton coached the Wake Forest Men’s Tennis Team from 1962-1984 and compiled a 277-172 record during his 22-year career. Coach Leighton’s success at Wake Forest coincided with increased awareness for tennis both within the Wake Forest University and greater Winston-Salem communities.
Leighton Stadium on Wake Forest’s campus honors Coach Leighton’s memory, but so too will the new Wake Forest Tennis Complex, a state-of-the-art facility for student athletes and a venue for high profile internationally renowned competition.
The Jim Leighton Tennis Fund seeks to raise at least $1 million towards a yet-to-be-determined naming opportunity at the new Wake Forest Tennis Complex in honor of Coach Leighton; one the most influential coaches in Wake Forest athletics history and a pillar of local tennis communities.
