Inside the Deacon Club

Since its founding in 1950, the Deacon Club has been an integral and vital part of the Wake Forest athletic program. As the popularity and success of Demon Deacon athletics have grown over the 40-plus years, so has this organization which is one of the most efficient and productive of its kind in the nation.

The Deacon Club, under the present leadership of Associate Director of Athletics – Development, Barry Faircloth, is responsible for all fund-raising activities that support the more than 350 student-athletes who receive scholarships to attend Wake Forest. Without its efforts, the university could not remain among the premier athletic programs in the Atlantic Coast Conference and the nation.

The primary mission of the Deacon Club is to help provide scholarships for the talented student-athletes at Wake Forest University. The donations to the Annual Fund and athletic endowments give Wake Forest student-athletes the opportunity to compete at the highest collegiate level and earn a degree from one of the most challenging Universities in the nation. In addition to raising money for scholarships, the Deacon Club is also dedicated to equipping our student-athletes with first-class facilities through a variety of ongoing capital projects.
