Let’s Take it to the Next Level

10/05/17

Five weeks into the athletic season, I cannot remember being more excited about the direction of our programs. Coming off last year, that’s saying a lot. In many ways, last year marked a new level of success for Wake Forest Athletics and the Deacon Club. Three programs finished in the top 10 in their respective NCAA tournaments. Six teams ranked in the top 10 during their regular seasons. We opened new facilities, recorded an all-time high in total ACC wins and became one of only three schools in the country to win a bowl game, participate in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and play in a baseball Super Regional. None of these achievements would have been possible without your generosity as a Deacon Club member.

Now it’s time for us to lift our programs to yet another level. We must continue to invest in the resources necessary to attract the very best student-athletes to Wake Forest. Once recruited, we need to provide those student-athletes with the academic support, nutrition and leadership enrichment programs required to reach an elite level.

By participating in the Next Level campaign by increasing your donation to the next giving level, you will provide this much-needed support by investing in new initiatives like metabolic nutrient testing and character development, in addition to increasing resources toward summer school and recruiting.

For our programs to continue to advance and grow, we must reflect on the role each of us can play in that continued development. As we consider increasing support to the next giving level, please also consider what a five-year commitment might look like for you. By building in a five-year commitment—one that could include gradual increases each year to reach yet an even higher giving level—the Athletic Department will be able to better project revenues, allowing us to invest in our programs sooner and more substantially.

I am so encouraged about our future. It is truly one we have forged together with the generosity you have shown throughout the Wake Will campaign. We could not have achieved the successes of last year without your generosity. Likewise, we will only grow with your continued and increasing support. I thank you again for all you sacrifice to make Wake Forest a better place, and I look forward to reaching the next level together.

Go Deacs!
