This is the time of year for both reflection and anticipation. 2012 has certainly presented some challenges competitively for our program. We’ve had some disappointments for sure but we’ve also experienced some achievements that fill us all with pride.
Competitively, some of our teams showed much improvement and many of our student-athletes earned honors within the ACC and nationally. Academically, our student-athletes performed exceptionally well as we continue to produce some of the best academic performance numbers (graduation rates and APR) in the country. Additionally, our student-athletes and staff contribute thousands of volunteer hours in our community.
As we anticipate 2013, we have every reason to be enthused about our future. Both of our basketball teams will continue their improvement and position themselves for a great future. The spring sports should continue their trend of improvement and some will be championship contenders. Next fall should be an exciting start for the 2013-14 season as many of our teams will return veteran players and challenge for ACC Championships.
Every day I am grateful that I work with such quality coaches, staff and student-athletes. We are blessed with some of the best people in college athletics. The way they represent all of us makes me extremely proud.
Celebrate the holidays with joy…and may 2013 bring you all that you wish!
