It is with tremendous pride that I write the final communication of the 2013-14 giving year. My pride stems from several goals that were achieved this year, which could not have been possible without your generous support.
Most notably, we will be breaking ground in August on the McCreary Indoor Center. This $21 million project is a tremendous vote of confidence in the direction of our football program and a major investment for our entire athletic program. The 120-yard facility will change the landscape of the athletic campus at Wake Forest and will provide an incredible new resource for training our student athletes.
We had many significant gifts in 2014, but none greater than that of Bob McCreary whose $7.5 million gift was instrumental in making this project happen. Many others have contributed significant amounts and this truly represents a celebration on behalf of many of you for your generous support to this effort. In total we had six gifts over $1 million, which not only helped fund the McCreary Indoor Center, but have provided significant progress toward the Sports Performance Center as well. A groundbreaking ceremony is being planned for the fall and will be announced at a later date.
On the Annual Fund front we now have more people than ever supporting the Deacon Club with our largest membership numbers in history. Having a larger base of support bodes well for the future of the athletic department. We appreciate each and every person who contributed to make this remarkable goal happen.
Although our final results are not complete we know that the 2013-14 fiscal year will easily go down as one of the most successful in our history. The amount of support we received was simply remarkable, and on behalf of everyone in the athletic department, we appreciate all your support and look forward to many shared experiences in 2014-15.
Take care and Go Deacs!
